1860's style woman's white cotton day caps.  The caps are available in  three designs: long lappets, short lappets and self-fabric or lace trimmed. I have identified the caps by their design and the color of the ribbons. The cap you see is the cap you will receive.  If you like a cap but would prefer another color of ribbon I would be happy to change it.  All of the caps shown are made with a woven cotton fabric.  All of the caps are new and each is one of a kind.
Such caps were worn by married women, often as a sign of motherhood, never worn by young girls. They are made with a drawstring in the back to form a bag to contain the hair. The face is framed by lace trimmed lappets, lace or fabric bands, which are decorated with detachable ribbons, which can be easily changed to suit your dress.
Older ladies often favored such caps to cover a thinning hair line, modern ladies can cover short hair cuts and unusual colored hair. Caps were worn indoors during the day but also could be worn outdoors under a bonnet. The caps are washable, I recommend removing the ribbons before washing.
Cap  #1:  Self/Fabric or Ruffle:  Black satin ribbon puffs. The broderie anglaise fabric has rows of tiny open work flowers alternating with rows of embroidered leaves. The cap is edged with narrow ruffled, scalloped cotton lace. The crown has a wide row of scalloped flat lace with large openwork flowers.
Cap #2:  Short Lappets:  Woven white ribbon with floral designs and lavender satin ribbon bows. The fabric is decorated with four petaled embroidered designs. The cap is edged with matching, ruffled cotton lace. The lappets are edged with narrow ruffled cotton lace.
Cap #3:  Short Lappets:  Sage green satin ribbon bows. The fabric has wavy designs of flowers and leaves. It is edged with embroidered cotton lace, the lappets are edged with narrow, embroidered cotton lace.
Cap 4: Black with short lappets:  Sheer black cotton decorated with ruffled black lace and small black velvet ribbons.
