Description
Elegant set of ten solid silver stemmed sherbet frames or cocktail stems of at least .800 standard, with clear glass liners, and swirl and swag cast pierced construction, and on the cup face the applied monogram "BLG". There is one extra glass liner. The set of ten frames weighs 32.4 troy ounces, and the frames each measure 3 inches in diameter at the mouth opening, 2 7/8 inches in diameter at the foot, and 5 inches high without the liners, which variously sit even with the rim to as much as another 3/16 inch above the rim. Marked on the underside of the cup with a "crowned P" and a "crowned A", which marks are similar to 18th century Paris marks used in Hanau Germany as decorative marks. These marks specifically were used by two Hanau, Germany, makers, Georg Roth and Wolf & Knell around 1900. There is a (casting?) crevice on the foot rim of one frame (see next to last photo), general heavy tarnish overall ( we have polished only one frame to better reveal the markings), and three of the liners have one or more notable chips or an impact bruise (see our last photo), otherwise in good antique condition.
