Description
This is a listing for a Brew Unit
cleaning kit
for a Miele CVA 610 or 615 coffee machine. After several years of trying different techniques to properly clean the brew unit (hereinafter called unit), I finally decided that the items in this cleaning kit are the best ones for doing the job correctly and easily. The cleaning I am referring to is the one shown under Coffee System Care - Brew Unit on pages 38-42 of the Miele CVA 615 Operating Instructions that I use. The instructions may be on different pages for a CVA 610 or a different year CVA 615 machine. The Miele Operating Instructions suggest that a cleaning tablet be used in the brew unit every 500 cups. I would recommend doing the cleaning approximately every 200 cups using Miele's cleaning tablet system and my suggested method which is taking both steel filters out of the unit and cleaning them with an urn cleaning solution. The instructions I send with the kit discuss how to take out both screens, how to clean the screens, how to put the screens back in and how to best lubricate the unit. I have also included a new oring (large red one) to be used when the one on the unit starts to leak too much. I propose my 200 cup time frame and method be used to reduce the amount of "wear and tear" on the red oring on the brew unit, the water pump and the brew unit drive system. Even slightly plugged screens will contribute to the "wear and tear" on these parts. If you damage a drive unit the result will be that the brew unit cannot be snapped into place and a message will come up on the screen that says "Brew Unit Missing." This is the worst message you can possibly receive! 99 times out a 100 it is not a damaged brew unit, but a damaged brew unit
drive
. R
epairing or replacing this drive can easily run over 00. I have taken these drive units out, reparied and/or replaced them and it takes me a full day to do it. The brew unit drive has plastic gears inside it which will break if subjected to high stress caused by plugged screens in the brew unit.
The kit contains: 1 Allen wrench, a set of bits (phillips and torx) and bit holder to be used to take out the SS screens,
3 packages of urn cleaner (for cleaning the screens), 1 oz. of sanitary silicon grease, 1 large red oring (I sell these seperately for .99),
6 Q-tips and my instructions on how to thoroughly clean and lubricate the unit. I have also included 2 sets of the orings that go on the hot water nozzle. I have included separate installation instructions for these orings. I sell 2 sets of these orings separately for .99.
A .99 invesment for this kit and instructions could save you from having very costly repairs in the future.
NOTE: I have EVERY part for a CVA 615 and several parts for a CVA610. Please see my listings or contact me about parts availibility or to sell your machine.
