Mountain Dulcimer - WALNUT Valley Model- Signed D. Brunner 1996 #26.
From what I've read the company made 6 dulcimers a month using traditional techniques; based on the production the serial numbering might indicate that this was probably made in May 1996.(WV-96-026)
This beauty has a scroll headstock, leaf designs on upper bout, with a heart sound holes on lower bout.
The tuners are geared.
Book-matched walnut top and back, latter with a contrasting purfling strip in the middle.
The fingerboard is solid walnut.
It has a zero fret, hard plastic “nut” and bridge and no markers. All frets are secure. Fret 29 and 11 I think might be glue residue I don’t think it is scratches but have pointed them out in last photo.
This dulcimer is in great condition for age and has lived in its fuzzy lined case.
The endblock has a suede strip to protect it and dampen any unwanted ringing of the strings.
Three guitar-style “bridge pins” anchor the strings and allow use of either ball or loop end strings.

This is a well-made instrument with a bright, forward sound and good intonation.
In 1996, this higher-end model in the range cost 0– not cheap for the time.
A few shallow marks (scuffs) I pointed them out in photo, on the back, otherwise the back is damage free and very good condition.
Recommended for players of all abilities from beginner to the more advanced.
Fuzzy lined case with 3 latches. Note the case is missing a few STITCHES where it rested on the floor, the case is sound and I have put drops of glue on the thread ends to stop and future unraveling.
